Active Mom classes can help!
Benefit from training under the guidance of a Kinesiologist and get a personalized experience, in a group setting. You'll enjoy the camaraderie and support of other women, plus the cost savings of training in a group of no more than 8 women. With our strategic training system, we cater to all stages of pregnancy and postpartum recovery, and levels fitness levels. Whether you are a new mom recovering from pregnancy, a seasoned mom, or an expectant mom - beginner to athlete - you will be challenged at YOUR level!!
Active Mom classes are aimed at preventing and correcting common pregnancy and postpartum conditions (core/pelvic floor dysfunction - diastasis recti, incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic instability - and postural dysfunction), improve your strength & manage your weight during and after pregnancy.
This class feature Strength, Circuits and Interval Training. We utilize body weight, baby weight, Sandbells, Resistance Bands, Stability Balls, Agility Ladders, Aerobic Steps, and more! With a focus on function and better movement, you will do compound strength exercises that target your entire body! Since your core & pelvic floor are our priority, every exercise you do is based on what your core can support! Additionally, an emphasis on your ABC's - Alignment, Breathing and Control - promotes optimal pelvic floor health and prevents injuries.

I have come to Kim to help in my post partum recovery after both of my children, and I have loved each experience. As a physician and someone who enjoys being active, I knew that exercise would be an important part of my recovery. What I didn’t know is just how much my body would change during my pregnancy and delivery, resulting in many surprises at what I found physically challenging after each delivery.
Kim’s personalized assessment and approach helped me to identify areas of weakness. She couples this with expert suggestions on how to isolate and improve each of these concerns, which really made my recovery well rounded. I really appreciated that she always had several levels of modification for the exercises to ensure each person starts safely rebuilding their body, but also challenging it as you grow stronger. I have even noticed an improvement in some chronic issues from before my pregnancies by addressing some specific muscle weaknesses that I was unaware of.
The classes are also a great way to meet other moms around Calgary; it is a very social, friendly atmosphere. It is fun to share tips about sunscreen and strollers, as well as find support and understanding after terrible nights of no sleep. I am still friends with some of the moms I met with my first pregnancy a couple of years ago.
Kim is knowledgeable and creates a friendly, supportive environment in which to return to exercise. I would highly recommend her classes for anyone’s post partum recovery.
As a new mom used to living a healthy and active lifestyle, I was very excited to find a fitness program that perfectly fit my needs. Not only did Kim's classes more than satisfy my physical fitness needs, it also facilitated social connections with other like-minded new moms.
I was especially impressed with how accommodating the classes were. Kim did an excellent job of making each workout valuable to every mom in class, regardless of their level of physical fitness. I was looking for a way to get my fitness back in order to return to playing soccer and hockey at a semi-competitive level. Not knowing my physical capabilities after having a baby, and having had previous knee injuries, and I was grateful for an accredited instructor who was attentive and took care in suggesting exercise variations that were both safe and challenging. Kim was also great at keeping classes interesting by changing exercises and workout formats from class to class. I also really appreciated the involvement of my baby in the workout. There was often an option to use our babies as weight as opposed to other types of resistance which made it fun and interactive for Baby, too. I received a great, well rounded workout every class.
In addition to the physical workout, it was also great to find a social outlet in which I could meet new moms like me. I am newer to the city and found it refreshing to meet and chat with other moms with similar interests. I met some great moms, and babies, too! I started attending Kim's classes when my daughter was just two and a half months old. It was amazing to see A’s interactions with other moms and babies develop over time. Now crawling, she continues to be an active social butterfly J
I would highly recommend this class to any new mom of any fitness level. It’s a great way to get out of the house and do something physically and mentally healthy for yourself and your baby. I look forward to returning someday. In the mean time, I continue to follow the healthy exercising habits and goal setting tools that Kim provided in order to stay healthy! Thanks Kim!
